As you know, fall is right around the corner and tree care in Roswell is of the utmost importance. Deciduous trees lose their leaves around this time, so in addition to a lot of raking (yuck!), there are some things that you should probably do.

So, it’s in our best interest to inform the residents of Roswell and the surrounding areas of 7 things they can do for general maintenance.

Address Any Hazards

One of the first things that you’ll want to be sure of is that you address any issues that you may have noticed with your property. Fall is a great time to remove any dead branches that you may have. Dead branches can cause a fair amount of havoc should they fall, especially if they hit your roof. They’re heavy and very dangerous to just about anything they come in contact – should they not safely hit the ground. We generally advise against taking chances here.

Fertilize

Fertilization is an integral step in healthy Roswell tree care! Fall is absolutely the best time to feed them. Of course, before you decide to go through the fertilization process, you’ll want to check your soil first. Through this, you’ll be able to determine what kind of pH and nutrients they’ll need to be nice and strong.

Handle Your Mulch

Mulching is a fantastic implementation and does well by trees. It controls moisture levels, prevents soil erosion, controls weeds, as well as other great things. However, you’ll want to make sure that you pull your mulch for the fall. This is handled by making sure that your mulch is 6-inch space between the mulch and your tree. Without doing this, you’re encouraging fungus growth.

Spray for Insects

Fall is generally a good time for insects and other critters to take up residence. While we don’t always want to displace them, there certainly are other trees that they could live in. They have a way of really damaging them, so something has to be done about it. Spraying for insects and other critters will always go a long way.

Wrap Trees

Trees, like humans, are susceptible to the dangers of the sun. Sunscald can damage your tree’s bark enough to make it fall off – specifically if the trees are young. To prevent this, wrap young trees with a paper wrap to protect them from UV rays.

While you’re at it, it’s also not a bad idea to wrap some of your older trees in burlap if they’re close to the road. This is done specifically for road salts, which can wreak havoc on your trees.

Wayward Seedlings

Over a given period of time, seedlings may have sprouted around your home. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing unless they’re close to your home’s foundation. It’s generally best to remove them before they start burrowing.

Roswell Tree Removal

This is also a great time to remove any/all dead or fallen trees. Dead trees invite critters, disease, and all sorts of other maladies that will spread to some of your healthy trees. You don’t want one problem
